Mac Snack Wrap

Tag: GeneralJohn @ 2:50 pm

It definitely doesn’t look that appetizing in commercials, and I’ll still mock it for that among other things.  But after trying McDonald’s new snack wrap today, I have to say it tastes pretty much like a big mac.  It’s a big improvement over their previous wraps.  It’s no Wendy’s chicken sandwich, but not much can match that quality.

Twenty Ten

Tag: GeneralJohn @ 11:48 am

So for the first ten years of the 21st century we’ve referred to the year as “two thousand x”, breaking the pattern of the old millenium where the year was broken into two pairs of digits.  This made sense for a couple reasons.  First of all, many were enamored with living in a new millennium and saying “two thousand” every time one referred to the current year emphasized that fact.  Secondly, the old system works just as well as adding in the additional “oh” if you wanted to say “twenty oh nine”.  Although by the end of the decade there were plenty of people referring to years as “oh eight”, “oh nine”, etc. and there will be a number of people referring to this year as “oh ten” despite it sounding a bit odd to me.  (Twenty one, Twenty five, etc. are right out of course due to confusion. :)

Now that the third millennium is over ten years old, however, I think it’s time to stop referencing the thousand bit.  Twenty ten is easier to say, and sounds a lot snappier.  How would you read the address 2010 Fake Street?  I’d imagine most would read it as twenty ten.  It’ll take a little while to break the decade old habit, but I hope that phrasing catches on.  Who’s with me?

Fake 3D is Fake

I watched Avatar in 3D last night.  It’s hard to say what I think of the movie because I was constantly trying to “immerse” myself and not see a double image.  I find myself either looking at the gimmicky effects and they look like cardboard or I’m trying to look at stuff at the background that ends up being blurry.  The whole effect ends up being as immersive as a pop-up book.  I hope to watch it in regular 2D sometime so I might actually be able to enjoy the otherwise spectacular animation.

You Can’t Do That On TV!

Perhaps this man was merely trying to increase his fertility?  My bet is on for the lulz though.

Good Christian Cursing

Apparently your true religious colors shine through your filthy blasphemous mouth. And Jesus has a lot of curse words as nicknames.

Name, Rank, and Serial Number

The hiring process has become more and more of an interrogation lately.  The city of Bozeman, Montana is asking job applicants for their social network logins and passwords.  My first reaction is “um, what?”.  My second reaction: “wait, the passwords too?!?”  Finally, only three lines? I’d need a full page front and back writing in cheat sheet notecard font if I actually felt like writing out all the urls of sites I have logins on.
